Job description

Join to apply for the Coding Market Director- Remote role at Conifer Health Solutions.

This position is responsible for the performance of coding operations and services of the assigned market. Ensure adequate resources and staffing for consistent engagement coverage. Manage service line performance, including engagement, quality, and productivity standards. Interface directly with clients at a corporate level and serve as the key link in managing relationships with national vendor partners. Identify and develop additional business opportunities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operations: Oversee operations specific to Conifer requirements and client satisfaction. Ensure the coding team has the necessary resources and education. Interact with Conifer and client leadership. Ensure adequate staffing and consistent coding coverage. Align new hire standards with qualifications and performance expectations. Manage coding inventory to meet DNFB/C, DNSP, and FBNE goals. Improve financial and operational performance through data analysis and performance initiatives. Ensure productivity and assess operational processes for improvements.
  • Monitoring: Monitor coding quality per policies, coordinate feedback, and work with audit teams to address findings. Maintain an average coding accuracy of ≥95.5%. Ensure compliance with educational updates and in-services.
  • Business Development: Participate in growth activities. Develop tactical plans and budgets to meet strategic goals.
  • Professional Development: Stay current with healthcare regulations, attend meetings, and participate in coding workshops and seminars. Keep updated with coding guidelines and directives.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This role involves supervising staff including interviewing, hiring, training, evaluating performance, and resolving issues. No. of direct reports varies, including Coding Director and Coding Manager; indirect reports include Coding Analysts and Coders.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of medical records systems and coding processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general IT skills.
  • Ability to work independently, support policies, and promote ethical coding standards.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 7 years of recent HIM or coding leadership experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management or related field; 10 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • AHIMA (excluding CCA) or AAPC credential required.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

Ability to sit for long periods, use computer peripherals, and occasionally stand or walk. Works in a virtual office setting with potential travel up to 50%.

Additional Requirements

  • Experience in acute care facility management preferred.
