Job summary

The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma is seeking an experienced Health Information Management (HIM) Manager to oversee our clinic’s HIM Department operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and excellence in health information processes. Your leadership will influence patient record integrity and regulatory compliance.

You will lead daily HIM operations, supervise coding workflows, train staff, and manage the department budget.

Qualifications

• RHIT certification required.
• Bachelor’s in Health Information Management or 9 years directly related experience.
• Proficiency in Medical Terminology, Anatomy, and ICD-10-CM.
• Strong leadership and conflict resolution skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee daily HIM operations, including chart retrieval, release of information, scanning/importing, medical coding, and clinical documentation integrity.
• Ensure team performance meets productivity, quality, and compliance standards through regular audits and process improvements.
• Oversee medical coding workflow and collaborate with EHR, RPMS, and other teams to maintain formatting, coding, and data retrieval standards.
• Train and mentor staff on health record maintenance, coding updates, confidentiality, and regulatory changes.
• Hire, develop, and evaluate team members while managing the department budget.
• Compile and analyze monthly reports, presenting findings to the Director.
• Oversee secure creation, handling, and disposal of physical and electronic patient records.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding standards and applicable state/federal regulations.
