Job summary

DaMar Staffing seeks a Coding Compliance Specialist to conduct audits and optimize DRG classifications in our New Hyde Park, NY office. The role includes developing and delivering coding instruction, creating guidelines, and ensuring adherence to current federal and state guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of coding guidelines; performs coding audits for optimization.
  • Provides ad-hoc education to the coding staff.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with coders and CDI staff.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of coding policy and procedures.
  • Maintains knowledge of all current Federal and State coding guidelines; stays up-to-date on system literature from all agencies.
  • Monitors and evaluates case mix index; demonstrates knowledge of case mix indexing.
  • Reviews potential reassignments; reviews reassignments accurately and timely.
  • Implements coding changes; relates coding changes to staff efficiently.
  • Work assignments require interpretation and independent decisions on course of action.
  • Understands department and corporate strategy and operating objectives.
  • Receives general instructions on routine work; detailed instructions on new projects.
  • Contacts mostly within own function; may be customer service oriented.
  • Performs related duties as required under ADA.

Job Responsibility

  2. 2.Demonstrates effective skills in validation; provides ad-hoc education to the coding staff.
  3. 3.Able to communicate effectively with coders and CDI staff.
  4. 4.Demonstrates knowledge of coding policy and procedures.
  5. 5.Maintains knowledge of all current Federal and State coding guidelines; remains up-to-date on system literature from all agencies.
  6. 6.Monitors and evaluates case mix index; demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of case mix indexing.
  7. 7.Reviews potential reassignments; demonstrates accurate and timely review of all reassignments.
  8. 8.Implements coding changes; demonstrates ability to relate coding changes accurately and efficiently to staff.
  9. 9.Operates under general guidance and work assignments are varied and require interpretation and independent decisions on course of action.

Job Qualification
  • Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Current Coding credential: CER - Cert Professional Coder (CPC) OR CER - Certified Professional Coder (CCP), OR CCS - Certified Coding Specialist required.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience required.
