Job summary

City of Williamsport is seeking a Codes Enforcement Officer to perform inspections, enforce safety codes, and process violation notices within the city limits. Candidates should possess a High School Diploma or equivalent, a valid Pennsylvania Driver License, and basic computer skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of state-wide and International Codes.
• Must maintain a Pennsylvania Driver License and a clean driving record.
• Ability to effectively operate a personal computer and general office equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform rental property inspections per Rental Inspection Ordinance focusing on nine life safety items.
• Conduct routine inspections related to life, health, and safety within Williamsport limits.
• Inspect licensed properties: Restaurants, rooming houses, and student residences.
• Enforce all applicable codes including International Codes and Codified Ordinances.
• Investigate issues and issue violation notices to abate health and housing conditions.
• Attend court hearings related to properties; prepare reports and maintain logs.
