MUSC Health in South Carolina seeks a coder/abstracter responsible for accurate ICD-10 and CPT coding of inpatient, outpatient, and emergency services, ensuring alignment with official guidelines. You will review medical records and assign codes to diagnoses, procedures, and conditions in accordance with HIM policies.
Requires an Associate’s degree in health information technology or related field or 5 years coding experience, and a coding credential such as RHIT, CCS, or CPC.
The coder/abstracter is responsible for accurate code assignment of all inpatient, outpatient, and emergency service diagnoses, procedures, and conditions as indicated in the patient medical record. Classification systems include ICD-10 and CPT edition, and all coding is in accordance with official coding guidelines from the American Medical Association, the American Hospital Association, and the American Health Information Association. All work is carried out in accordance with the Health Information Management Department and MUSC approved policies and procedures.
