Overview

Coder II

Are you ready to join a staff of like-minded professionals that strive to provide compassionate, affordable, high-quality care in our community?

This is a remote position for applicants living in New Hampshire or Vermont only. At Valley Regional Hospital, patients are the center of our coordinated care system and we have an opening for a Coder II to join our team.

The primary responsibility of the Coder II is:

  • Ensures that records are correctly coded within 48 hours of discharge, excluding weekends and holidays.
  • Reviews chart thoroughly to ascertain whether all diagnoses/procedures are present in accordance with mandated coding guidelines related to ICD-10 CM coding principles.
  • Contact the responsible physician in a professional, tactful manner, with coding queries related to diagnosis, CPT and HCPCS if they are not available in the chart.
  • Utilizes computerized coding/abstracting equipment.
  • Meets quality standards of having 95% of principal diagnoses and procedures appropriately and/or correctly coded.
  • Maintains current coding knowledge through review of periodicals, articles, meetings.

The ideal candidate would have the following qualifications:

  • Required Licensure/Certification Skills: CPC, CCS, or CCS-P certification required
  • Must be familiar with charting, NCCI, and coding requirements for multiple specialties, including ED, IP, OBSV, OP, pediatric, infusion, and SNF. 3 years of experience preferred
  • Associates degree or equivalent with 5 years recent acute hospital coding experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with the ability to effectively communicate (both verbally and in writing)
  • Maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff across the organization
  • Attention to detail essential.

Compensation:

Min: $22.96

Max: $32.84
