Job summary

An established industry player is seeking a detail-oriented Coder I to join their remote team. In this role, you will abstract data from medical records and ensure accurate coding of diagnoses and procedures according to ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 guidelines. You will be responsible for coding various records and maintaining documentation quality assurance. Qualifications

  • 1 year of outpatient coding experience or completion of a coding course.
  • Must have at least one certification from CPC, COC, CPC-P, CCS, or similar.

Shift: Shift 1/8:00 AM to 4:30 PM

Minimum to Midpoint Pay Rate: $18.18 - $25.45 / hour

Summary

Abstracts data from medical records into Epic and 3M 360 to provide detailed case summaries of medical, demographic, and statistical information. Codes diagnoses and procedures following ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 guidelines, including department modifications. Identifies primary and secondary diagnoses and procedures, and follows mandated procedures for coded data including APC and HCC codes.

Facility Specific: Responsible for coding ED, Diagnostic, and Ancillary records.

Professional Fee: Responsible for Diagnostic, HCC, Retrospective Coding, Documentation Quality Assurance, and Ancillary Records.

Requirements
  • Educational Requirements: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Experience Requirements: 1 Year Outpatient Coding (Preferred), or completion of coding course
  • Licensure and Certification: Required: CPC, COC, CPC-P, CCS, or similar; CRC, CIC, RHIT, RHIA (minimum one required). Other certifications from AAPC or AHIMA considered.
