Job summary

Glencoe Regional Health Services in Glencoe, MN is seeking a full-time Coder to join our Health Information Management team. You will code inpatient, outpatient, and clinic records using ICD-10 and CPT guidelines, ensuring timely and accurate data for reimbursement.

Position Summary:

Responsible for coding inpatient, outpatient, and clinic records in compliance with ICD-10 and CPT guidelines, as well as third-party payer requirements. Utilizes information from the electronic health record and adheres to established policies and procedures to ensure accurate assignment of diagnosis and procedure codes and required data. This role ensures coding is completed within established deadlines to support appropriate and efficient reimbursement.

Education and Experience:

• Coding Specialist graduate or Coding certification through an accredited organization required. Current AHIMA registration (RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CCA) or AAPC registration (CPC, CPC-A, COC, CIC) in good CE standing. Will substitute degree/certification for previous health care coding experience.
• Coding experience in and correct application of ICD-10 and CPT coding systems required.

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Thorough knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology required.
• Proficiency in Windows-based computer systems required. Adept in electronic health record content; Epic/Excellian experience desired.
• Detail oriented with ability to work independently and as a team player.
• Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with members of the healthcare team.
• Strong analytical skills required. Ability to identify, analyze and research information to provide positive solutions or outcomes.
• Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality of all personal/health sensitive information and ensure compliance of HIPAA rules and regulations.

Compensation and Benefits:

Compensation decisions are made based off of several factors including relevant work experience, education, certification and licensure as well as internal equity. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of their hourly range.

Hourly Range:

• Coder $23.57 to $32.99
• Certified Coder $24.26 to $33.96
