A leading healthcare institution seeks a 'Coder ED/OP' responsible for outpatient records coding using ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 systems. This role requires solid qualifications in medical coding along with a minimum of one year of acute care coding experience. Ideal candidates will have verifiable training and a thorough understanding of medical terminology and anatomy, and will play a vital role in ensuring accurate billing and record-keeping in a dynamic work environment.
This position is designated as "remote". However, the new hire will need to come for onboarding and hospital orientation in person.
The Coder ED/OP is responsible for assuring proper coding of outpatient records using ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 classification systems as well as charge entry for appropriate coded records. Inputs coding and patient information in the appropriate computer system(s) for billing and abstracting purposes and identifies and corrects information discrepancies.
Education:
- Post High School Special Training
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
- Credentials or equivalent through AHIMA or AAPC
Special Skills/Qualifications/Additional Training/Experience Required:
- Knowledge of basic and advanced ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 coding instructions is required, as well as medical terminology, anatomy and physiology
- Verifiable training in coding systems, advanced medical and anatomical terminology, clinical theory, and reimbursement principles found in college courses, hospital in-service, and/or approved seminars
- Minimum of 1 year experience in acute care coding, including Medicare, MS-DRGs and APR-DRGs
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
