Job summary

Universal Health Services, Inc. is seeking a Health Information Specialist to code medical records timely according to ICD-10 and AHA guidelines.

You will assist the Health Information Services department with clerical and technical tasks, and assemble charts as part of daily responsibilities. The role requires knowledge of medical terminology and strong organizational skills, with a focus on accuracy, confidentiality, and customer service.

Qualifications

Qualifications
Position Summary
  • Responsible for timely coding charts in accordance with the current principles of ICD-10 and AHA coding guidelines.
  • Supports the Health Information Services Department through a variety of clerical, technical, and related support services
  • Assembles medical records and perform other daily duties within the Health Information Management Services department as assigned.
Qualifications
Education/Training
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Associates degree preferred
Experience
  • One-year (1) year experience in inpatient coding experience.
Licensure/Certification
  • CCS, CCA Certification from AHIMA, RHIA, RHIT
  • Must be a Certified Coder.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Proficient in ICD-10-CM coding , filing, record-keeping, and basic computer skills.
  • Knowledgeable of general medical terminology, anatomy, physiology and psychiatric terms and diagnosis.
  • Skills in preparing and maintaining appropriate medical record documentation
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Must demonstrate a professional and personal demeanor with customers on a daily basis.
  • Knowledge of State/Federal and HIPAA laws pertaining to patient confidentiality and release of protected health information.
