An established industry player is seeking a detail-oriented Coder 1-FPBO to join their dynamic team. This role involves accurately assigning diagnosis codes and ensuring optimal reimbursement by adhering to coding guidelines. Job Summary: The Coder 1-FPBO accurately assigns diagnosis codes based on documentation and appropriate modifiers for payer type. Follows coding initiative (CCI) guidelines for optimal reimbursement. Maintains Charge Tracker log for offsite hospital charges. Works assigned work queues in LLEAP. Performs other duties as needed.
Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum 6 months of current Diagnostic coding (ICD-9/10) experience and CPT. Must have working knowledge of medical billing, auditing, and collection experience for all insurances and third-party claims. Experience on EPIC system preferred.
Knowledge and Skills: Current working knowledge of billing, auditing, and collections for all payer types. Must have current working knowledge of modern office practices and all insurance types and their guidelines. Able to read, write legibly, speak in English professionally, and use necessary computer software (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment. Good oral and written communication skills. Works well in group settings and communicates professionally with providers. Able to make logical decisions and understand verbal and written instructions. Capable of multitasking effectively. Able to distinguish colors, hear sufficiently for conversations, and see adequately for reading screens and documents.
Licensures and Certifications: Current Certified Procedural Coder (CPC), Certified Outpatient Coder (COC), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification required and must be maintained.
