Qualifications

• Investigate alleged violations of county ordinances and state law reported by other county departments or the public.
• Perform on-site inspections and investigations for compliance with codes and ordinances.
• Issue citations and perform related tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Conducts initial surveys of buildings, structures, and land to determine if substandard and in violation of codes.
• Inspects existing structures for safety and sanitation violations or as required by adopted codes.
• Maintains files of inspections, re-inspections, consultations, notes, and reports; compiles status reports on assignments.
• Inputs inspection reports, investigation notes, and data into computer databases.
• Issues citations for code violations.

GRADE: 114 ($47,138.00 -$55,890.00)Depending on qualifications

Purpose of Job

The purpose of this job is to investigate alleged violations of county ordinances and state law reported by other county departments and the general public. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, enforcing compliance with codes and ordinances, performing on-site inspections and investigations, issuing citations, and performing additional tasks as assigned.

Job Related Requirements

WORK SCHEDULE: Tuesday - Saturday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

May be required to work on religious holidays.

Conducts initial surveys of buildings, structures, and land to determine if they are substandard and in violation of applicable codes and ordinances; inspects existing structures for violations of safety and sanitation regulations, or when adopted codes and ordinances require an inspection.

Maintains files of inspections, re-inspections, consultations, phone conversations, inspection notes, and other required reports; compiles status reports on specific assignments as requested.

Inputs inspection reports, investigation notes, and consultation data into computer database.

Issues citations for code v
