The City of Altoona is seeking a candidate with a thorough understanding of property maintenance practices to conduct inspections and support City regulations. The role involves inspecting properties for violations while interacting with the public to promote the City’s goals.
The ideal candidate will have a High School Diploma and a valid driver’s license. The position includes a comprehensive benefits package such as competitive salary, health insurance, and paid time off.
The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of the practices and procedures related to property maintenance and the skill and ability to interact with the public in a manner that promotes the City's goal of reducing blight while maintaining respect for property owners and tenants. Individuals will conduct indoor and outdoor field investigations; inspect properties for violations; issue and post warning notices, notices of violations, corrective notices, and orders to comply; while performing a variety of field and office work to support and comply with City regulations and ordinances.
Individuals must have a High School Diploma or Equivalency and a valid state drivers' license. Certification as a Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector through the International Property Maintenance Code (IPMC) is preferred, and required within six (6) months of appointment.
