SAFEbuilt is seeking a Code Enforcement Officer to join our Newcastle, WA team. The role involves investigating and resolving code issues, writing notices of violations, and presenting in hearings. Strong communication and interpretation of city codes are essential.

Qualifications include ICC certification (or within 12 months), a valid WA driver’s license, and a background check. Competitive hourly pay and robust benefits accompany this position.

Qualifications

• ICC International Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector Certification, or ability to obtain within twelve months of hire date.
• Experience in code enforcement, investigating and resolving complaints, interpreting codes, writing notices of violations, staff reports, and keeping records.
• Background check completion and driving record meeting city requirements.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and resolve complaints, interpret codes, write notices of violations and staff reports, keep records, and appear in hearings.
• Provide notification of issues in writing, by phone, in person and electronically.
• Schedule and perform systematic property maintenance inspections to meet minimum standards.
• Prepare records and reports pertaining to abatements, court actions, daily activities, enforcement actions and inspections.
• Compile documentation for and issue summons.
• Perform other duties as required or assigned.
