Job summary

Los Alamos County seeks a Code Compliance Officer to enforce municipal regulations across zoning, planning, business licenses, and building codes. You will identify, process, and resolve violations while maintaining confidentiality of privileged information.

Under general supervision, you will work within the Community and Economic Development Department to ensure compliance with city regulations and ordinances. This role is non-exempt and typically full-time in New Mexico.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED (minimum).
• Two years’ experience in code enforcement, property management or assessment, or related field.
• Valid New Mexico Class D driver’s license (within 60 days).
• ICC enforcement official certification within 3 years.
• Associates degree in Construction Management, Planning, or related field recommended.
• Experience reading blueprints and specifications recommended.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Two years’ experience in code enforcement, property management or assessment, or other related experience.
• Must possess or have ability to obtain within first sixty days of employment and must maintain a valid New Mexico Class D driver’s license.
• Must obtain within three years of employment and maintain certification as an International Code Council enforcement official.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associates Degree from an accredited college or university in Construction Management, Planning, or related field.
• Experience reading blueprints and specifications.
