The City of Montrose in Colorado is seeking a Code Compliance Officer to enforce municipal codes and zoning regulations. Under the Administrative Commander's direction, you will coordinate inspections, process complaints, and issue notices or citations to ensure compliance.
You will work with city staff and the public, maintain records, prepare evidence for court, and participate in abatements and enforcement actions as needed.
Under the direction of the Administrative Commander, the Code Compliance Officer works closely with other city staff and citizens of the community in the compliance of city codes and ordinances. Provides enforcement pertaining to municipal codes and/or zoning violations. Coordinates inspections and investigations of violations and initiates compliance letters and/or citations. Initiates abatements when warranted and posts properties for official actions.

Moderate physical work requiring ability to lift a maximum of 50 pounds; occasional lifting, carrying, walking and standing, hand/eye coordination for operation of personal computer; vision for reading and preparing written reports and documents; frequent speech communication, hearing and listening to maintain communications with employees and citizens. The employee frequently is required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Works primarily in clean, comfortable environment. Outside work, with exposure to outside elements. Requires driving and walking during inclement weather. Subject to many interruptions and pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries. Must be able to remain calm in stressful situations; be able to cope with and work with irate citizens.
