Job summary

City Of League City is seeking a Code Enforcement Officer to enforce city regulations and codes, investigate hazards, and prepare case files for administrative proceedings.

The role involves both proactive and reactive inspections, documenting evidence, issuing notices, and coordinating abatement efforts. Requires related regulatory experience and certification or eligibility to obtain within 120 days.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of experience in code enforcement, inspections, investigations, planning, or related regulatory field.
• Associate's degree or a minimum of 60 college hours in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education or relevant experience.
• Code Enforcement Officer Certificate of Registration or shall obtain within 120 days from date of employment.

Responsibilities

• Investigates complaints by meeting with citizens, City departments, and businesses regarding vacant homes and lots; addresses violations related to tall weeds/grass, junk vehicles, trash and debris, MS4 and storm water pollution, sign enforcement, and tree preservation.
• Enforces code of ordinances regarding substandard structures, housing standards, environmental health, vehicle/junk vehicle rules, vegetation abatement, and zoning ordinances.
• Documents actions and evidence, creates notice letters, emails, and scans documents to cases; posts property for abatement and records liens for abatement.
• Issues notice of violation documents to property owners for nuisance violations and prepares case files for administrative proceedings.
• Performs related work as required.
