Job summary

Dallas City Hall is seeking a Code Enforcement Officer II for night shifts to conduct specialized inspections and enforce municipal codes across city properties. You will investigate violations, interact with property owners, and prepare documentation for enforcement and legal proceedings.

The role requires detailed inspections, the ability to issue citations, and coordination with other departments. A Texas Driver's License is needed, with TDLR certification to be obtained if not already held.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience in heavy customer service, including interpreting and enforcing specialized codes/ordinances.
• Ability to issue citations and communicate with diverse individuals.
• Valid Texas Driver's License with a good driving record; Code Enforcement Officer certification from the TDLR or must obtain it within the probationary period.

Responsibilities

• Conducts detailed inspections of properties to ensure compliance with structural, zoning, and health codes.
• Investigates, identifies, and addresses code violations; prepares evidence for enforcement actions.
• Educates citizens, property owners, developers, and business operators on code requirements.
• Maintains inspection records and prepares reports for legal proceedings; issues citations and responds to complaints.
• Operates city vehicles to conduct inspections across Dallas and participates in court testimony as needed.
