Job summary

St. John the Baptist Parish Government is seeking an Inspector in LaPlace, LA. The role focuses on inspecting buildings to enforce parish codes, monitoring violations, and preparing detailed reports for hearings.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of two (2) years of work experience in law enforcement, security, or similar enforcement-type field.
• Experience as nuisance abatement or litter control officer preferred.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Louisiana driver’s license and driving record acceptable to Parish’s Risk Manager.
• Ability to interpret Parish regulations and procedures, collect and analyze information to prepare reports, work independently with minimal supervision, learn department-specific software.

Responsibilities

• Inspect new and existing buildings and structures to enforce parish codes.
• Monitor violations progress, process violations, and prepare reports.
• Maintain all necessary reports and records pertaining to inspections and code enforcement actions.
• Prepare for and participate in case hearings.
