Job summary

Hansen Talent Group is seeking a strong COBOL Developer to support enterprise applications and billing platforms. The ideal candidate will have experience with Mainframe COBOL applications within a high-transaction environment and can support database related items.

The COBOL developer will support Mainframe applications, meeting internal and external client requirements, ensuring transactional data flows run efficiently and meet HIPAA and security compliance requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience with mainframe COBOL applications on z/OS.
• Experience in high-transaction environments and HIPAA/security compliance.
• Ability to write and test COBOL applications and optimize workflows.

Responsibilities

• Write and test COBOL applications to support core business operations and transactional data flows.
• Update and optimize workflows and code structures to support business changes and increase application efficiency.
• Create and manage scheduled jobs within the system using JCL.
• Support DB2 and VSAM functions, managing and optimizing data retrieval for the application workflow.
• Collaborate with other tech teams to integrate modern systems and security tools, ensuring the COBOL application retains integrity and meets federal, state, and company security regulations.
• Troubleshoot application issues, debug code, and perform root cause analysis to ensure high functionality and compliance.
• Create technical documentation and workflows.
