Cobb is seeking a Cobb Laying House Worker at Sweetwater Farm in Rose, OK. The role involves caring for hens, collecting and inspecting eggs, and performing farm duties on a 1st shift schedule (6:00 am – 2:00 pm, Wed–Sun).

Requirements

Must have at least 12 months of consecutive work history with one employer and no additional job gaps in employment greater than 6 months in the past 36 months. If applicant has been laid off or providing child or elder care, the employment gap will be increased to 18 months. Previous work history will not apply to applicants who have been full time students consecutively for the last 36 months.

Rehire criteria is a minimum waiting period of 180 days.

Rehire Rule of no more than 3 times worked at Cobb/Tyson Foods.

Position Summary

Attends to and cares for hens by ensuring the flock has adequate feed, water, and ventilation. Collects and inspects eggs to ascertain quality and fitness for incubation by performing the below duties. Other duties may be assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Collects eggs from egg table, pick up eggs from floor, and record number of eggs laid (35%)
  • Collects and handles eggs by observing/grades/cleans and records egg numbers distributes or disposes according to Cobb standard (15%)
  • Weighs feed, handles birds and weighs birds according to schedules (10%)
  • Changes and cleans nest pads, dusts nests, cleans walls and ceilings, maintains egg room in a clean state and performs other routine housekeeping duties; add/change litter (10%)
  • Records information according to instructions such as egg numbers, bird weight, medications, feed intake, mortality, and production percentage. (5%)
  • Houses birds, places in designated pens per housing instructions. Loads birds for processing. Mows/Weed eats grounds on the farm. (20%)
Other duties, responsibilities, and activities

These may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice, such as inspects birds to determine quality and progress by weighing birds weekly; sanitation of breakroom, boot rooms, equipment, and vehicles; properly euthanize selected or weak/ill birds in accordance with company policy (10%)

Biosecurity/Animal Welfare/Safety Requirements

The jobsite is a bio secure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility. Appropriate clothing and footwear are provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation

Physical: Must use safe lifting techniques. Must regularly stoop/bend over to floor level to collect eggs up to 300 times per shift. Must regularly liift and/or move up to 30 pounds to move items such as feed buckets, tools, and trash can. Must regularly push or pull up to 500 lbs. (wheeled feed cart) While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand majority of shift on multiple floor surfaces (i.e. concrete floor, shavings); walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel objects and controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; climbing/ladder usage; stoop/bend up to 1000 times per day; talk or hear; drive a vehicle within the farm complex. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.

Tools and Equipment

Requires use of hand tools such as wire cutters, pliers, wrenches, broom, squeegee, shovel, counter, vaccination gun, stick needle, eye drop bottle, animal tag pliers; power tools such as cordless drill, gas powered back-pack blower; equipment such as dump truck, skid-steer, tractor, trailer with gas-powered sprayer, pallet jack, lawn mower and weed-eater, catch-frames, scales, tables, scanners, extension cords, coops; safe operation of vehicle to and from work area. Environment: Required to work on wet, slippery surfaces and also work in hot, dry, extreme dusty, wet and cold environments . Personal Protective Equipment Required : Safety glasses, Safety goggles, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, and company issued footwear are required. Ear plugs and safety glasses will be used as needed. NIOSH approved N95 particulate respirators will be worn as needed . Chemicals Commonly Used: Disinfectants such as Synergize, Viorcid, Green Clean, bleach, hand sanitizer and Lysol, Clorox wipes etc. Safety: TM is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures. These include but are not limited to Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, LOTO and Personal Protective Equipment. TM is expected to identify, address and mitigate safety related risks.
