Job summary

AtBigham Cable Construction, Inc. is seeking a hands-on Coax Splicer to join our field team. You will perform cable upgrades, splicing tasks both aerial and underground, test and troubleshoot after installation, and document work with daily production reports.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience.
• Valid State driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Able to pass DOT medical exam and obtain medical card.
• Six months coax splicing experience or one year telecom experience.
• Certified pole climber or ability to demonstrate proficiency preferred.

Responsibilities

• With guidance, perform cable upgrades and splicing tasks, aerial and underground.
• Test, activate, and troubleshoot equipment post-installation.
• Ensure all splicing operations meet customer and industry standards.
• Safely navigate working at various heights from underground to above ground.
• Complete basic daily maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
• Document work through daily production reports and map-markups.

This is a hands-on, outdoor position that requires working in all types of weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, wind and other inclement weather. Must be comfortable performing hands-on, physically demanding work in an outdoor field environment.

AtBigham Cable Construction, Inc., as a Coax Splicer, you'll work in telecommunications construction, splicing coaxial system networks for communication companies that provide internet, cable TV, and telephone services.

What you'll do

• With guidance, perform cable upgrades and splicing tasks, both aerial and underground
• Test, activate, and troubleshoot equipment post-installation
• Ensure all splicing operations meet strict customer and industry standards
• Safely navigate working at different heights, from underground to in the air
• Complete basic daily maintenance of vehicles, including fluid checks
• Document work performed through daily production reports, including marking up maps and keeping correct material usage records
• Other duties as assigned

What you'll need

• To be 18 years of age or older
• Authorization to work in the United States for this company
• High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
• Valid State driver's license (cannot be considered Provisional), including an acceptable driving record
• Must be able to pass a DOT physical exam, resulting in a valid medical card
• Six months of coax splicing experience or one year of experience in the telecommunications industry
• Certified pole climber or capable of demonstrating proficiency as a pole climber, is preferred

Physical abilities & exposures

• Routinely: work in confined space, operate vehicle and heavy machinery, squeeze, fine hand motion, work alone in remote locations with arms above shoulder level, bend, stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs and lift greater than 55 pounds, use keyboard and mouse
• Occasionally: use ladder and gaffs for climbing poles
