Job summary

Hoyt Archery Inc. in Salt Lake City is seeking a Paint Process Technician to support painting and finishing of limbs, handles, and accessories. You will troubleshoot equipment, analyze defects, and drive improvements to ensure consistent finish quality.

This hands-on role requires knowledge of water-based and solvent-based coatings, HVLP spray systems, powder coating, and hydrofilm finishing. Collaboration with Maintenance, Quality, and Production is essential to reduce downtime and defects.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of industrial, manufacturing, or automotive paint and coating processes.
• Experience with water-based and solvent-based wet spray coatings, including primer, base coat and clear coat.
• Experience operating and troubleshooting HVLP spray guns and related equipment.
• Working knowledge of powder coating processes and equipment.
• Ability to read Technical Data Sheets (TDS) and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
• Ability to diagnose paint defects and root causes.
• Ability to communicate technical problems effectively with cross‑functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Applies primers, base coats, and clear coats using water-based or solvent-based systems.
• Supports powder coating and hydrofilm/hydrographic finishing processes.
• Operates paint scales and performs paint mixing as per Technical Data Sheets.
• Diagnoses paint defects and identifies root causes.
• Performs routine inspections and basic preventive maintenance of paint equipment.
