Job summary

King County Water and Land Resources Division -WA seeks a Coatings and Corrosion Specialist in Seattle, WA. This role leverages coatings knowledge, technical skills, and cost-estimating expertise to support WTD Conveyance and Treatment projects from planning through completion.

You will contribute to conveyance projects, pump station and treatment plant upgrades, and work in a collaborative, equity-focused team that values innovative problem solving and cross-disciplinary coordination.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience working with construction bid packages and developing cost estimates or bids representing either the owner, contractor, or consultant.
• Demonstrated experience in solving complex technical issues within a multi-discipline work environment.
• Proficient in software that supports the delivery of required work products, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and databases, as well as any technical or specialty software programs required to perform the job functions.

Responsibilities

• Perform construction service and inspection; review shop drawings and technical documentation; advise on contractor compliance with contract documents; review change orders.
• Serve as technical subject matter expert on traditional wastewater projects requiring coatings and linings.
• Develop and manage work order contracts and documents; prepare cost estimates to comply with bidding policy.
• Perform facility inspections to gauge corrosion severity and provide rehabilitation cost estimates.
• Maintain relationships with coatings, corrosion rehab, and sealant industries to improve engineering standards.
