Job summary

Simpson Strong-Tie is seeking a Coating Technician in Gallatin, TN to apply cathodic protective coatings to screws after heat treatment. You will operate Dip-spin and E-Coat systems, manage coatings and pretreatment materials, and ensure quality finishes in a high-demand manufacturing setting.

The role requires safety focus, experience in coatings or similar manufacturing, forklift certification, and the ability to work 11.5-hour night shifts on a 4-day schedule with potential overtime.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Proven experience as a Coating Operator or in a similar role in manufacturing, preferred.
• Simpson Strong-Tie Powered Industrial Truck Certification required (will certify).
• Familiarity with industrial machinery and chemical handling, preferred.
• Must understand atmosphere curing furnace fundamentals and operation.
• Familiar with pre and post process testing such as titrations preferred.
• Basic computer knowledge
• Ability to work in hot environments for long periods of time
• Forklift experience required
• Accountability & Dependability; reliable attendance
• Mathematical Reasoning: add/subtract two-digit numbers and multiply/divide with 10s and 100s
• Ability to Work Independently: follow instructions and safety guidelines
• Attendance: reliable, punctual attendance
• Safety is the priority; wear PPE; operate in coating department with respirator

Responsibilities

• Set up, load, and operate automated coating equipment (Dip-spin and E-Coat) for in-house fasteners.
• Manage process controls using HMIs and system software; troubleshoot issues.
• Perform regular equipment maintenance and monitor processes for efficiency and quality.
• Prepare components for coating; mix and adjust coatings, acids, alkalines, and processing chemicals.
• Inspect finished work for uniform coating and quality compliance; maintain clean, safe workspace.
• Clean and maintain paint equipment; proper storage and handling of materials.
• Keep accurate records of process parameters and results for QA.
• Identify and troubleshoot process or equipment issues; train new employees.
