Job summary

Edmund Optics is seeking a Coating Technician, Level I to support the front end and back end of the coating production process. You will perform maintenance on coating equipment, load fixtures, and conduct visual and metrology inspections to ensure quality optics.

The role requires reading specs, basic algebra, and proficient use of MS Excel/Word. Must meet safety standards and be able to work in a manufacturing environment in Florida.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and understand spec sheets, run sheets, routings, and work instructions.
  • Good math skills, including proficiency in basic algebra
  • Basic computer skills including working proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word

Responsibilities

  • Operation of sandblast cabinet and chemical stripping booth
  • Organize and maintain consumables and maintenance supplies
  • Conduct preventative maintenance procedures on coating chamber shielding in preparation for a cleanroom environment.

Overview

The Coating Technician, Level I is responsible for the front end and back end of the coating production process as well as some aspects of coating machine maintenance. The Coating Technician, Level I performs their duties under the direction of their supervisor or manager.



Responsibilities


  • Operation of sandblast cabinet and chemical stripping booth

  • Organize and maintain consumables and maintenance supplies

  • Conduct preventative maintenance procedures on coating chamber shielding in preparation for a cleanroom environment.

  • Setup, load, unload and maintain coating fixtures

  • Perform visual inspections of pre and post-coated optics for defects

  • Measure finished parts using a variety of metrology equipment

  • Will be required to use shop and power tools

Education/Experience

  • HS diploma

  • Associates degree in technical discipline preferred


Physical Requirements

Adequate manual dexterity to perform essential functions; ability to use some physical efforts in the handling of heavy materials and machinery (most tasks require no more than 50 lbs. lifting); position requires about 80% standing; ability to work in manufacturing environment.


Other Requirements:

  • Work overtime as required

  • US Citizenship or permanent residence required

Compensation Range Transparency

At Edmund Optics, we are committed to transparency and equity in our hiring practices. The posted salary range for this role reflects the expected base pay. The actual offer will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to relevant skills, education, work experience, business needs, and geographic location.


Salary Range:

$18.00 - $20.00 per hour
