Job summary

Edmund Optics is hiring a Clean Room Technician for the 2nd shift (3:00pm - 1:30am, Mon-Thu) in Florida. The role focuses on preparing optics for coating, inspecting surfaces, and handling delicate components with care.

The position requires a high school diploma, ability to read lens drawings, and adequate eyesight to perform precise measurements. Overtime and US citizenship or permanent residency are required where applicable.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret lens drawings and worksheet instructions.
• Adequate eyesight to perform inspection and measurements accurately.

Responsibilities

• Perform fundamental inspections of coated/uncoated lenses as needed.
• Run the Elma cleaner with pre-programmed settings.
• Inspect surfaces for AR coating on lenses and mirrors.
• Inspect finished glass, uncoated items as necessary.
• Load optics into tooling jigs and unload coated optics.
• Measure glass with micrometers, vernier, and gauges.
• Wrap and pack lenses for shipment.
• Read lens drawings and worksheet instructions.
• Handle optics to prevent damage and ensure safety.
• Prepare surfaces for coating by cleaning and inspecting.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Maintain timeliness and regular attendance.
• Comply with company policies and regulations.

Clean Room Technician (2nd Shift)

Job Locations: US-FL

Type: Full Time

Overview

A coating cleaner prepares all optics for coating by using documented methods and limits, including inspection, and cleaning and to load and unload tooling jigs. This is a second shift position and the hours are 3:00pm - 1:30am, Monday through Thursday.

Responsibilities

• Perform fundamental inspections of either coated and/or uncoated lenses, as necessary.
• Run the Elma cleaner with pre-programmed settings.
• Surface inspection, lens AR coating.
• Surface inspection, mirror AR coating.
• Surface inspection, finished glass, uncoated, as necessary.
• Load optics into appropriate tooling jigs and unload coated optics.
• Perform dimensional inspection of glass using micrometers, vernier and/or other gauges, as necessary.
• Wrap and pack lenses as necessary.
• Read and understand lens drawings as well as worksheet instructions.
• Handles optics in an appropriate manner to ensure both safety to the cleaner and to avoid any damage to the parts.
• Prepare optical surfaces for coating by following appropriate cleaning procedures and inspecting surfaces to ensure that surfaces are clean for coating.
• Other duties as may be assigned.
• Timeliness and regular attendance are required.
• Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations.

Education/Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Compensation Range Transparency

At Edmund Optics, we are committed to transparency and equity in our hiring practices. The posted salary range for this role reflects the expected base pay. The actual offer will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to relevant skills, education, work experience, business needs, and geographic location.

Salary Range: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
