Job summary

Oerlikon in Wixom, MI is seeking a Coating Technician (2nd shift) to set up and monitor coating machines, load/unload chambers, and input process parameters.

You will pre-treat customer products, oversee chamber loads, and make critical processing decisions, with a focus on equipment maintenance and quality.

This role requires a high school diploma, 2–4 years in related equipment repair, and willingness to work overtime.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED or equivalent experience.
• 2-4 years of experience in HVAC, carpentry, automotive/industrial equipment repair, or construction preferred.
• Knowledge of cutting tools preferred (e.g., drills).
• Experience with coating techniques, blasting, or plating desired.
• Ability to read/write/speak English.
• Commitment to company values and strong work ethic; detail-oriented and creative.
• Proficient in ordering supplies via the internet and MS Office.
• Experience with MS Office is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily changeover maintenance of pre/post treatment equipment.
• Optimize daily use of production equipment.
• Follow procedures and interpret customer work instructions.
• Collaborate with Quality Coordinator and Center Manager on quality concerns.
• Provide training and assistance on equipment operation and maintenance.
• Learn new skills and cross-train into departments.
• Operate and maintain coating equipment per specifications.
• Minimize downtime via preventative maintenance.
