Job summary

Hanwha Power in New York (PSM Manufacturing facility) seeks a coating development professional to program ABB robots, develop and document coating processes using HVOF and APS methods for MCrAlY and TBC applications on turbine components. You will lead development trials, create process documentation, perform process reviews, and drive continuous improvement in coating quality and efficiency.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in industrial gas turbine or aerospace gas turbine component coating development preferred.
  • Familiarity with coating for reconditioning and new parts.
  • Understanding of coating processing of gas turbine and aerospace components.
  • Understanding of basic ABB programming.
  • Able to collaborate with the PSM Workshop team.
  • Effective communication, decision making, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Word, Excel, Project, and Power Point.
  • Experience applying lean manufacturing principles, process control, six sigma (or similar methodology) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Be the focal point for coating process development in the PSM Manufacturing facility, including leading development trials, programming ABB robot, creating process documentation and coating router.
  • Conduct coating process reviews in-shop and ensure adherence to fixed processes for manufacturing components.
  • Troubleshooting production coating process issues.
  • Support cost reduction initiatives.
  • Lead root cause and corrective actions for coating-related non-conformances.
  • Communicate to management, customers and IPT members about activity and barriers.
  • Facilitate and ensure quality documentation is correct, complete, and timely with hardware and recorded in the PSM database.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job description

Primary responsibilities are to program ABB robot, develop, document, and monitor coating processes for components in the PSM Manufacturing facility. Coating processes application include, but not limited to using HVOF, APS method to apply MCrAlY and TBC on components.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions of the job include, but not limited to, the following:

  • Be the focal point for coating process development in the PSM Manufacturing facility. This includes leading development trials, programming ABB robot, creating process documentation including work instructions, and coating router.
  • Conduct coating process reviews in-shop and ensure that they are following the fixed processes as established for manufacture of specific components.
  • Troubleshooting production coating process issues.
  • Support cost reduction initiatives.
  • Lead root cause and corrective actions for coating process related non-conformances.
  • Communicate both internally and externally to keep management, customers, and IPT members informed of activity. Communicate to management significant issues or barriers that may prevent the successful completion of the task.
  • Facilitate and actively work to ensure all quality documentation is correct, complete, and timely with hardware and recorded in proper PSM database.
  • Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education & Training
  • Must complete EHS assigned regulatory training for work area as described by PSM’s EHS Training Matrix, which includes:
    • Initial and annual Hazardous Waste Management training.
Skills/Experience
  • 2+ years of experience in industrial gas turbine or aerospace gas turbine component coating development preferred. Less experience may be considered with programming experience in different industry.
  • Familiarity with coating for reconditioning and new parts
  • Understanding of coating processing of gas turbine and aerospace components.
  • Understanding of basic ABB programming.
  • Able to collaborate with the PSM Workshop team.
  • Effective communication, decision making, and organizational skills.
