About the position:

E Ink’s Product Development Group is looking for a highly motivated, creative, and hands-on technician. Reporting to the Coatings and Laminations Manager, this individual will be responsible for maintaining day-to-day operation of equipment to produce chemicals to support the Billerica Pilot Coater. Working as part of a cross functional project team, this technician will coordinate and process the coating fluids and will be part of coating activities as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with chemists and engineers to establish and implement optimized processes and material flow for the operation of Chemical Mix lab equipment
  • Coordinate and execute experiments in batch reactors
  • Ensure all best practices and safety protocols are observed and followed
  • Respond to process upsets (troubleshooting) and drive solutions
  • Monitor and assure outgoing quality of coating fluids meet specifications
  • Lead daily activities of Chem-Mix room and send out weekly summaries
  • Perform data collection, maintain records, and ensure proper functioning and cleanliness of the equipment
  • Work in collaboration with Pilot coater team to ensure on-time delivery of coating materials for development support
  • Support some of the activities in Pilot coater as needed

Qualifications:

  • GED or High School diploma plus a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a relevant manufacturing environment
  • Strong relationship and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Good understanding of weighing principles and polymer processing methods
  • Ability to make meaningful contributions in troubleshooting and resolving complicated technical problems
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced, self -managed environment with aggressive goals
  • PC skills: solid understanding of the Microsoft Suite and spreadsheet applications
  • Good verbal, oral and written communication skills

Preferences:

Experience with compounding of powders, resins, solvents and other additives in a lab or manufacturing set up
