Anderson|Biro, LLC is seeking a Coater Operator on the 1st shift (7:30am-3:30pm) to lead coating work cell operations, including coating, compounding, laminating, and material testing. You will set up and changeover equipment, perform quality inspections, and train Coater Helpers while upholding safety standards.

Responsibilities include loading materials with forklifts, documenting production records, and supporting preventive maintenance and process improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in coating, laminating, or converting manufacturing.
• Forklift operation experience and certification preferred.

Job description

We are seeking a Coater Operator on 1st shift (7:30am-3:30pm) who is responsible for leading daily operations within the coating work cell, ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality production of coated, compounded, and laminated materials. This position oversees production activities including coating, compounding, laminating, material testing, equipment setup, changeovers, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Coater Operator provides direction and training to Coater Helpers and Trainees while maintaining productivity, quality, and safety standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Maximize the production of quality products while meeting production schedules and customer requirements.
• Lead daily activities within the coating work cell, including coating, compounding, laminating, and material testing processes.
• Load and unload web stocks, bulk rolls, and raw materials using forklifts and other material handling equipment.
• Obtain and maintain OSHA-certified forklift operator qualifications.
• Perform machine setups, adjustments, and changeovers in accordance with company procedures and specifications.
• Conduct quality inspections and testing throughout the production process.
• Operate coating, compounding, and laminating equipment while adhering to established procedures and quality requirements.
• Troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and material waste.
• Identify, isolate, and properly document nonconforming materials and products.
• Complete machine cleanup and preparation activities between production runs.
• Accurately complete production records, labels, inventory transactions, and process documentation.
• Record setup times, production output, scrap quantities, and inventory usage.
• Assist with preventive maintenance activities and engineering improvement projects.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient work environment.
• Cross-train in related production functions and assist in training team members.
• Support continuous improvement efforts focused on safety, quality, efficiency, and cost reduction.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Skills

• High school diploma or GED.
• Previous coating, laminating, converting, or manufacturing experience.
• Tow motor or forklift operating experience.
• Forklift certification.
• Previous extrusion experience and knowledge of plastic sheet extrusion processes.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to obtain OSHA forklift operator certification.
• Ability to read and interpret production specifications, work instructions, and operating procedures.
• Ability to accurately read a tape measure.
• Strong mathematical aptitude.
• Ability to use measuring and inspection devices.
• Manual dexterity and ability to utilize hand tools for equipment setup and operation.
• Ability to lift and carry materials and products safely.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Regular and dependable attendance.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and perform repetitive motions throughout the shift.
• Regular use of hands and arms for handling materials and operating equipment.
• Regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds.
• Frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds.
• Occasionally lift and move materials weighing more than 150 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to work around moving machinery, industrial equipment, and manufacturing processes.
• Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Ability to work in manufacturing environments with varying temperatures, noise levels, and exposure to industrial materials.
• Requires moderate physical exertion and constant attention to workplace safety.
