Job summary

Silgan Containers is seeking a skilled Industrial Mechanic for our Savage, MN facility. You will support metal can line machinery, read blueprints, perform preventative maintenance, and ensure safe, efficient production operations around the clock.

The role requires hands-on mechanical repair work, the ability to work at heights, and strong problem-solving in a high‑volume line environment. Starting pay is $35.53/hour with overtime and a full benefits package.

Qualifications

• Background in manufacturing or similar production environment required.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
• Ability to use measuring hand tools to set up and maintain can line machinery.
• Strong analytical and multitasking abilities for a fast-paced setting.
• Basic computer skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.

Shift: 6PM – 6AMon the 223 schedule

Job Description

Job Requirements:

• Proven background in manufacturing or similar production environment
• Ability to read and comprehend blueprints and drawings
• Ability to use measuring hand tools to set up and maintain all can line machinery and associated equipment
• Critical and logical thinking ability
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Possess ability for basic computer skills
• Ability to work with little supervision
• Able to work at heights including use of steps and ladders

Experience/Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Journeyman Mechanic plus
• 2+ years as an Industrial Mechanic in a manufacturing environment

Preferred Requirements:

• Lift truck driver’s certification

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to kneel, stoop, crawl, squat, and stand for extended periods, while running machinery up to 12 hours
• Must possess adequate upper body strength to repeatedly pull or push hand tools in order to make, repair, or adjust parts and/or machines
• Ability to lift 40 pounds
• Ability to be in constant motion about 50-70% of shifts
