Job summary

Ethos Veterinary Health, part of the NVA Group, is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Internist to join Eastern Carolina Veterinary Referral, the only 24/7 emergency and specialty hospital in coastal North Carolina, in Wilmington.

Work alongside experienced clinicians in a collaborative, high-volume referral hospital equipped with advanced diagnostics; provide anesthesia and perioperative care, mentor residents and students, and communicate clearly with pet owners.

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent veterinary degree with eligibility for state veterinary licensure.
• Board Certification in Anesthesiology or residency training in Veterinary Anesthesiology.
• Strong clinical skills and an interest in complex anesthesia and perioperative case management.
• Strong communication skills with a compassionate, client-centered approach.
• A collaborative mindset and commitment to exceptional patient care.
• A passion for teaching, mentorship, continuous learning, and advancing specialty medicine.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced anesthesia care for complex specialty, emergency, surgical, and interventional cases.
• Collaborate closely with specialists in surgery, internal medicine, cardiology, critical care, radiology, medical oncology, neurology, and emergency medicine.
• Support complex procedures utilizing ARISE’s advanced diagnostic and interventional capabilities, including CT, MRI, endoscopy, ultrasound, and C-arm fluoroscopy.
• Contribute to the hospital’s teaching environment by working alongside residents, interns, and veterinary student externs.
• Partner closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support teams to provide seamless, compassionate patient care.
• Help foster a culture of mentorship, knowledge-sharing, and continuous learning.
• Communicate clearly and empathetically with pet owners during stressful and emotional situations.
