About The College/Unit/Department

IRIS is a multidisciplinary research group at UGA, focusing on natural and conventional infrastructure to create resilient, equitable communities. We work across disciplines including engineering, ecology, landscape architecture, geography, anthropology, economics, and policy/law. Our goal is to enhance infrastructure by integrating natural systems like forests, shorelines, and marshes.

Position Details
  • Full-time, 40 hours/week
  • Salary: $65,000-$77,000, based on experience
  • Start date: 08/01/2025

Minimum Qualifications

Baccalaureate degree in a relevant field. Contact HR for education/experience evaluation in lieu of minimum qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Engineer-in-Training license or ability to obtain licensure within a year
  • 1+ years of industry or research experience
  • Expertise in coastal natural infrastructure, resilient infrastructure design, CAD/Civil3D, GIS, hydraulic and hydrologic modeling
Position Responsibilities
  • Support development and design of coastal engineering projects, including modeling, conceptual design, analysis, reports, and cost estimates (50%)
  • Mentor students in natural infrastructure planning and engineering (15%)
  • Develop project scopes, fees, and schedules (10%)
  • Contribute to training and workforce development related to coastal natural infrastructure (10%)
  • Co-author research publications and resources (5%)
  • Maintain communication with project PIs (5%)
  • Perform other duties as assigned (5%)
