Job summary

Adventist Health Tillamook is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our 25-bed facility. You will perform chemical, microscopic, and microbiological tests, supervise phlebotomists, and help guide lab operations in a community hospital setting.

Responsibilities include maintaining records, calibrating equipment, collecting blood specimens, and ensuring quality control under regulatory requirements. Evening shifts with full-time scheduling are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, biological sciences, chemical sciences or allied health technologies or equivalent: Required
• Two years Medical Technologist experience in hospital setting: Preferred
• Current certification from ASCP or NCA: For CA and HI: Preferred
• Current certification from ASCP or MT-AMT or equivalent: Required in OR
• ASCP Certification (ASCP) or MT-AMT/AMT: Required per department
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification: Required

Responsibilities

• Prepares sterile media in plates, jars or test tubes for growth of cultures and incubates as required.
• Maintains records of tests and reports results to appropriate personnel; monitors quality control.
• Calibrates and maintains laboratory equipment; cleans and sterilizes glassware and instruments.
• Collects blood specimens by venipuncture or finger/heel sticks; performs waived POC tests.
• Performs quality control and assists in training new personnel; investigates irregularities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
