Job summary

University of South Carolina Beaufort (USCB) seeks a seasoned Grounds Lead to provide hands-on leadership in maintaining our coastal campuses. You will supervise daily grounds maintenance, directing turf care, planting beds, and tree/shrub care, while overseeing seasonal operations to keep outdoor spaces safe, attractive, and welcoming for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

You will mentor grounds personnel, coordinate maintenance workflows, and support campus events, helping USCB preserve

Qualifications

Knowledge of safety practices, tools, equipment, materials and supplies used in maintenance of grounds.
Ability to perform heavy manual labor.
South Carolina pesticide license.

Responsibilities

Lead and supervise daily grounds maintenance activities, ensuring work is safe and meets University standards.
Direct turf maintenance, planting bed care, tree and shrub maintenance, and landscape improvements.
Coordinate spring cleanup, fall leaf removal, and other seasonal grounds activities.
Assist with weed management using appropriate methods following safety procedures.
Maintain safe, welcoming outdoor spaces including sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas.
Support campus events with outdoor and indoor setups.
