Located on the southeast Atlantic coast in Brunswick, midway between Savannah, Georgia and Jacksonville, Florida, the College of Coastal Georgia is an undergraduate college in the University System of Georgia with an additional outreach through the Camden Center in Kingsland, Georgia. Job Summary
The position is responsible for all aspects of leading the men’s and women’s tennis programs. This position is designated as Campus Security Authority (CSA).

Responsibilities

  1. Manages men’s and women’s tennis program budgets, including scholarship, travel, operating, and equipment budgets.
  2. Plans, supervises and manages practices and strength and conditioning program; coordinates with assistant coaches; instructs players.
  3. Recruits talented student athletes; evaluates players; communicates with coaches and prospective student athletes.
  4. Advises and monitors the academic progress of student athletes.
  5. Schedules and manages games; coordinates with other coaches.
  6. Purchases program uniforms and equipment; submits requisitions for purchases.
  7. Coordinates team travel; prepares expense reports and travel authorizations.
  8. Promotes the men’s and women’s tennis program to the news media and community groups; speaks to civic organizations and actively supports fundraising efforts for the sport and department.
  9. Performs related work as required.
Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.

Other Required Qualifications

  • Must possess a current valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record and pass a yearly Motor Vehicle Report review.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug test and will be subject to random drug testing.
  • Must successfully pass a credit check.

Required Experience

  • More than three years experience in coaching an intercollegiate men’s and women’s tennis program or significant equivalent experience.

  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of the rules and regulations governing intercollegiate sports.
  • Knowledge of college-level athletic program management principles.
  • Knowledge of tennis rules and procedures.
  • Knowledge of budget management principles.
  • Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.

SKILLS

  • Skill in the coaching and training of student athletes.
  • Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
