Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (DNCR) seeks an Environmental Specialist I (S) for the Coastal Region. The role leads the Regional Fire Management program, developing burn prescriptions, conducting ecological burns, and supervising a Regional Fire Team.

You will coordinate with partner agencies, manage fire equipment, and support NWCG training and certifications. A Bachelor's degree in a natural resource field and relevant experience are required; the position is

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in one of the agricultural, biological, engineering, environmental or natural resource sciences or a closely related curriculum.
Equivalent combination of education and experience may apply.

Responsibilities

Collect and manage data and geospatial maps for prescriptions, burn units, reporting, and planning.
Lead prescribed burns and monitor operations before, during, and after.
Coordinate prescribed fire activities with partner agencies and staff.
Operate and maintain fire vehicles and equipment.
Support NWCG fire trainings and certification of division burn bosses.
