Job summary

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is seeking an Environmental Scientist for positions in Silver Spring, MD; Beaufort, NC; or Charleston, SC. You will develop procedures, identify priority projects, review biological data, and support outreach to promote marine science in coastal management and research.

Candidates must meet basic and specialized experience requirements and may be subject to a background investigation and a one-year probationary period.

Qualifications

• Basic requirements include a degree in Biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related discipline.
• One year of specialized experience or substitution of education for experience or a combination may meet the basic requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and distribute standardized procedures for assigned programs and projects.
• Identify and validate significant problem areas, prioritize projects, and coordinate actions and reporting.
• Examine biological data, review test results, and determine validity for integration or development of new processes.
• Support communication and outreach efforts including written reports, presentations, news releases and websites.
