Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Civil Engineer in Training for our Baton Rouge and New Orleans offices to grow within the coastal engineering field. You will support planning, design, and construction management of flood control and water resources projects.

Under supervision of licensed engineers, you will prepare calculations, drawings, and reports while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and engaging with clients and contractors in a dynamic work environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related discipline (or currently pursuing).
• EI certification or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning, design, and analysis of flood control structures, including levees, pump stations, floodwalls, floodgates, and drainage facilities.
• Prepare engineering calculations, technical memoranda, and design reports.
• Develop and review construction drawings and specifications under the supervision of licensed engineers.
• Support construction management activities, including shop drawing review, RFIs, submittals, and field observations.
• Assist with quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and schedules.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (structural, geotechnical, mechanical, electrical).
• Participate in meetings with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
• Support quality control and compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.
