Job summary

Calvert Marine Museum in Solomons, MD seeks an Operator (Captain of Record) for its 65-foot passenger vessels. You will operate cruises, ensure safety, supervise crew and coordinate with staff for maintenance and charters.

The role requires a 50-ton license, FCC marine radio permit, a high school diploma, and at least three years’ passenger vessel experience. It is a seasonal, weekends- and holidays-inclusive post.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• Minimum of three years experience on passenger-carrying vessels.
• Valid U.S. Coast Guard 50 ton operator’s license or above.

Responsibilities

• Operates vessel on all regularly scheduled public cruises or private charters during the season May–October.
• Ensures safe operation of vessel in accordance with Coast Guard regulations.
• Maintains logbook and coordinates with crew for inspections and maintenance.
• Supervises the duties of the mate.
• Interacts with passengers to ensure public safety and answer questions.
