Job summary

Santa Ynez Valley People Helping People seeks a Coalition Community Coordinator to build and grow PHP's prevention coalition, while delivering youth-focused outreach and prevention programs across the Santa Ynez Valley.

The role leads coalition recruitment, engagement, and presentations to schools and community groups, serving as a connector between PHP, families, schools, and partners. Evening and weekend hours may be required.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS (preferred) or AA/AS with 12+ units in Education, Human Services, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field.
  • Experience building or growing a coalition, task force, or community partnership network strongly preferred; experience with youth or prevention programs a plus.
  • Proven ability to build and grow relationships with diverse community partners; confident public speaker
  • comfortable presenting to schools and community groups.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills; able to manage multiple priorities independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient (or willing to be trained) in Vertical Change and Bloomerang. Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly

Employment Status: Full-Time (40 hours/week)

Pay Range: $23–27/hr, depending on experience

Organizational Overview

Santa Ynez Valley People Helping People (PHP) is a nonprofit social services agency serving individuals and familiesin the Santa Ynez Valley and Los Alamos through food distribution, case management, youth development, andschool-based mental health services. In partnership with Santa Barbara County Behavioral Wellness and supported byElevate Youth California and the Sierra Health Foundation, PHP leads a countywide youth substance use preventioncoalition, and maintains accountability through Vertical Change and Bloomerang.

Position Summary

The Coalition Community Coordinator builds, manages, and grows PHP's community prevention coalition whileimplementing youth-focused outreach and prevention programs across the Santa Ynez Valley. This role leads coalitionrecruitment and engagement, delivers presentations to schools and community groups, and serves as a trusted connectorbetween PHP, families, schools, and community partners. Strong relationship-building and public speaking skills arekey to success. Requires flexibility, including evening and occasional weekend hours for events and coalition activities.

Coalition Building & Management
  • Serve as the primary staff lead for PHP's prevention coalition — recruiting, onboarding, and engaging members,and growing membership across schools, law enforcement, healthcare, businesses, and local government.
  • Plan and facilitate coalition meetings, guide the coalition's strategic action plan, and strengthen long-termsustainability through retention and leadership development.
Presentations & Community Outreach
  • Deliver presentations on substance use prevention and coalition initiatives to schools, parent groups, andcommunity organizations, adapting messaging for each audience.
  • Represent PHP at community events and public forums, and build lasting relationships with school districts, youth-led serving organizations, and local businesses.
Youth Programs & Events
  • Recruit and mentor teens in the PHP Youth Coalition, facilitate peer-led school presentations, and support youth-led service projects like the Backpack Program and Fulfill-a-Wish.
  • Coordinate logistics for coalition meetings, workshops, and community events, ensuring programming is culturallyresponsive and inclusive.
Data & Partnerships
  • Document program and coalition activity in Vertical Change, support grant reporting, and share outreach data withthe Development team via Bloomerang.
  • Serve as liaison with schools, law enforcement, and healthcare partners, cultivating new collaborations thatstrengthen the coalition.
