Description

Coaches oversee all aspects of the youth basketball program, which can include serving as a customer service point of contact, coach, or referee. The J’s basketball program emphasizes fun, safety and convenience and teaches the value of good sportsmanship. Experience as a coach/player/referee is preferred, but not mandatory.

Schedule

We are hiring reliable part-time staff to assist with practices on weekdays and coach games on weekends for our Winter Basketball program. We are hiring for K–6th grade teams that practice Monday–Thursday and play on Saturdays & Sundays. The Winter season is from November-February. You must be able to coach your team's games on either Saturdays or Sundays.

Essential Functions

1. Coach basketball practices, games and/or clinics for ages 4-12
2. Transport balls and equipment between multiple basketball sites if needed
3. Supervise children ages 4 to 12 years old

Requirements

1. Experience working with children preferred
2. Experience as a coach/referee/player is preferred
3. Knowledge of basketball and its rules
4. Able to work a flexible schedule including weekends
5. Must have reliable transportation

Physical Requirements

1. Constant talking and hearing to communicate with players and officials
2. Frequent standing, walking and eye/hand/foot coordination as well as exposure to a generally loud gymnasium environment
3. Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling of 25lbs, stooping/crouching, sitting, climbing stairs/ladders throughout the building and on the court and repetitive motions to demonstrate and execute skills
