League One Volleyball (LOVB, pronounced “love”) is reimagining the sport of volleyball. Launched in 2020, our company is a mission-led sports performance, development and professional league that seeks to empower new generations of women athletes.

It is a groundbreaking time for volleyball in the US with our historic triple Olympic Gold medals in Women's Indoor, Beach and Sitting Volleyball. Volleyball is already the #1 most played girls' youth team sport. There are 38M current and former players today. Of major sports, it's the only one that is women-first (~90% of players are women). But the volleyball market has been almost entirely missed by traditional sports investors, brands, and media.

In this role, you will join a mission-driven, roll-up-your-sleeves team of innovators and builders who have come together to change the paradigm of professional volleyball and women’s sport.

The Role

A Coach of Coaches and Recruiting Manager at Roots Volleyball is responsible for developing, mentoring and managing the coaching staff to ensure high-quality training while expanding collegiate volleyball opportunities for athletes. This role focuses on coach development, program growth while fostering a positive club culture. The position reports to the Club Director and there are 2 direct reports.

Key Responsibilities

1. Mentor and support coaches to enhance their skills and knowledge.
2. Design and deliver training programs and workshops to build technical, tactical, and leadership competencies.
3. Observe training sessions and games, offering constructive feedback to improve performance.
4. Set clear performance goals for coaches, aligning with the club's strategic objectives.
5. Conduct regular evaluations of coaching staff, identifying areas for improvement.
6. Support coaches in their professional development and create opportunities for growth.
7. Foster a positive, inclusive, and growth-oriented culture within the coaching team and club.
8. Serve as a role model, demonstrating strong leadership qualities and commitment to the club’s values.
9. Ensure all coaches adhere to the club’s policies, procedures, and code of conduct.
10. Act as the primary liaison between coaching staff and club management, facilitating clear communication.
11. Collaborate with club leadership to develop and implement coaching strategies and best practices.
12. Ensure alignment between coaching methods and the club’s long-term goals for athlete development.
13. Work closely with the Youth Program Manager to prioritize program growth and continued development of athletes.
14. Assist in recruiting and onboarding new coaches who align with the club’s culture and standards. Provide thorough training and guidance to new coaches during their onboarding process.
15. Develop relationships with athletes and families, facilitating communication with college programs to identify opportunities.
16. Organize and run Exposure Camps, which are showcase camps attended by college coaches who serve as camp clinicians. This includes securing college coaches to participate.
17. Collaborate with the LOVB National Director of Recruiting to optimize athlete recruiting experiences.
18. Address and resolve issues among coaches or between coaches and athletes, fostering a healthy environment.
19. Provide support during high-pressure situations, ensuring coaches are equipped to lead effectively.

Required Skills/Abilities:

1. Proven experience as a volleyball coach with a strong understanding of technical and tactical aspects.
2. Experience in leadership, coaching mentorship, or staff development roles is preferred.
3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
4. Strong organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail.
5. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
6. Passion for volleyball and commitment to helping coaches and athletes achieve their full potential.
7. Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team setting.
8. Flexibility to travel as needed based on business needs.

Education and Experience:

1. Minimum of two years of relevant experience is required.
2. USAV, AAU, or similar volleyball coaching certifications.
3. Experience with club-level or collegiate volleyball coaching.
4. Familiarity with athlete development models, coaching education programs, and performance management systems.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

1. Flexible working hours with the expectation to attend practices, games, and club events.
2. Availability during weekends and evenings, particularly during the volleyball season.

Location

Austin, TX with (U.S.-based) travel for volleyball tournaments and business-related events.

The annual base salary for this role is $60,000-70,000 plus our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based on geographic location, work experience, education and/or skill level, among other things.
