Job summary

Brandywine School District seeks a qualified athletic coach to lead varsity, JV, and freshmen programs, ensuring safety, discipline, and ethical conduct on and off the field.

You will verify academic and medical eligibility, organize practices and contests, manage uniforms and equipment, communicate with the Athletic Director, coaches, players, and parents, and maintain compliance with DIAA and safety protocols.

Qualifications

  • Certificated and/or professionally licensed non-administrative employee of the Brandywine School District preferred.
  • Ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
  • Previous successful coaching experience in the identified sport.
  • Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the program and willingness to examine new theories and procedures.
  • Preferred prior coaching experience in Flag Football.

Responsibilities

  • Full responsibility for the overall supervision of his/her programs (Varsity, JV, and Freshmen).
  • Maintain CPR/AED/First Aid certification and keep it current.
  • Attend DIAA Rules Clinic yearly or complete online version of the course and know DIAA rules and regulations.
  • Verify each athlete's academic and medical eligibility.
  • Supervise and conduct practices and contests in a safe manner.
  • Manage uniforms, equipment and facilities responsibly.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and communicate with Athletic Director, coaches, players and parents.
  • Direct injured athletes to the athletic trainer and report injuries to the nurse.

Job Goal

To instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. To provide students with instruction that will lead to the formulation of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence.

Job Qualifications
  • 1. Certificated and/or professionally licensed non-administrative employee of the Brandywine School District preferred.
  • 2. The ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
  • 3. Previous successful coaching experience in the identified sport.
  • 4. Must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the the program and be willing to continue to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the program.
  • 5.Preferred pervious successful coaching experience in Flag Football.
Essential Functions
  • Full responsibility for the overall supervision of his/her programs (Varsity, JV, and Freshmen).
  • Must be certified and maintain CPR/AED/First Aid certification.
  • Must take NFHS Online Concussion course every 2 years.
  • Must attend DIAA Rules Clinic every year or complete online version of the course. Responsible for knowing, understanding and implementing the DIAA rules and regulations.
  • Responsible for verifying each athlete's academic and medical eligibility.
  • Supervise and conduct practices and contests in a safe manner.
  • Maintain a professional appearance.
  • Manage uniforms, equipment and facilities in a responsible manner.
  • Notify the Athletic Director of annual budgetary needs.
  • Work toward building and teaching good sportsmanship, cooperative work ethic and responsibility.
  • Work toward developing good public relations with the parents, school, booster club and community.
  • Communicate with the Athletic Director, administrators, assistant coaches, players and parents.
  • Direct injured athletes to the athletic trainer and report injuries to the nurse.
  • Administrative Duties:
  • Provide team rules and practice schedules to athletes, parents and Athletic Director.
  • Submit an eligibility report and keep emergency cards on athletes with you at all times.
  • Have accurate rosters available for the Athletic Director, newspaper, school and parents.
  • Adhere to the DIAA state tournament manual deadlines.
  • Submit an end of the year report to include:
  • Team records, standings and individual awards.
  • Uniform and equipment inventory.
  • Obligations for lost or missing uniforms and equipment.
