Position: Coach Head Girls 8th grade Basketball

FLSA Status: Exempt

Reports to: Head Coach and Activities Director

Salary: Stipend

Purpose Statement

The Jefferson City School District is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Coach – Assistant to support the district’s 9,000 students across various schools and educational programs. The assistant coach will work with the head coach and activities director to ensure high-quality service and foster a culture of academic excellence, skill development, discipline, sportsmanship, and self-esteem among students.

Essential Functions

• Coach individual participants to develop skills necessary for achievement in the sport.
• Plan and schedule regular practice sessions during the season.
• Enforce discipline and sportsmanship standards, assisting with penalties for breaches.
• Demonstrate effective communication and human relations skills.
• Assist with organization and supervision of the sports program.
• Follow safety practices and comply with district rules and policies.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills/Qualifications

• Valid Missouri teacher certificate.
• Employment as a teacher in the Jefferson City School District.
• Previous coaching experience preferred.
• Other qualifications as deemed appropriate by the board.

Miscellaneous Requirements

Clearances

Background clearance required; results must be satisfactory to the District.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Includes lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, fine motor skills, and physical activity in various weather conditions, similar to head coach duties.
