Job Description / Essential Elements

The Varsity Coach has knowledge of fundamental and advanced skills for the sport, and is responsible for instilling commitment, discipline, and teamwork. The coach follows CIF/CCS and BVAL Coaches Code of Conduct and communicates effectively with parents, students, staff, and the community. The Head Varsity coach oversees all levels within the program.

Athletic Director under the site principal.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate knowledge of rules and techniques for the sport.
  • Exhibit appropriate leadership qualities.
  • Organize practices and conditioning programs.
  • Manage and organize according to district policies.
  • Work effectively with parents, staff, and students.
  • Maintain positive community communication.
  • Instill commitment, discipline, and teamwork.
  • Support students in balancing academics and athletics.
  • Handle fundraising, purchasing, and financial procedures per district protocols.
  • Maintain equipment and uniforms for safety and accountability.
  • Follow CIF/CCS and BVAL policies and codes of conduct.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school, collegiate, amateur, or professional playing experience in the sport.
  • Coaching experience at the high school JV level or equivalent.
  • Current California coaching certifications.
  • Additional certifications including mandated reporter training, fingerprint clearance, TB test, CPR, First Aid, ASEP, SCA, Heat Illness Prevention, Mandated Reporter, Sexual Harassment, Bloodborne Pathogen, Pest Management, and Concussion training.
