Job Description

SUMMARY:

To support the vision, philosophy, and methodologies of the high school girls soccer program and varsity head coach. Instructs athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary to realize a degree of individual and team success while receiving instruction that will lead to the formulation of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support the planning, preparations, and coaching activities of the Girls Soccer program from the middle school level to the high school.
• Plan, schedule, and conduct a regular program of practice and competition in accordance with rules of the school, the NMAA, and District 2-4A.
• Assist the Athletic Director and Athletic Trainer in the distribution and collection of appropriate information (i.e., physical forms, and all other forms that are required by the NMAA, District 2-4A and the high school).
• Attend the appropriate meetings pertaining to soccer as scheduled by the NMAA or District 2-4A.
• Recommend the purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms as needed.
• Assume responsibility for maintaining an accurate inventory of equipment pertaining to the sport.
• Oversee the safety and conditions of the facility or area assigned to the soccer programs.
• Assume the responsibility for the supervision, safety, and welfare of students participating in the soccer program before, during, and after scheduled practices and competitive contests.
• Establish and maintain good rapport with athletes, staff, parents, community groups, and news media.
• Submit requests for transportation forms to the Athletic Director.
• Assist the Athletic Director in planning and organizing promotion, participant recruitment, and recognition programs pertaining to the sport.
• To perform assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
• To perform assigned tasks with a high standard of quality.
• To perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or designee.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Successful experience as either a head or assistant coach, or successful experience as a player or coach at the college level.

REQUIRED COACHING COURSES: To be completed after you are hired.

• NFHS Fundamental of Coaching Course
• NFHS First Aid, Health and Safety for Coaches Course
• Heat Illness
• Bullying/Hazing, and Inappropriate Behaviors
• Protecting Students from Abuse
• CPR and AED Course
• Concussion in Sports
• Cheer and Dance Safety Certification (Cheer Coaches only)
• NMPED 501 Initial Support Provider Coach

EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE:

• Previous experience in coaching soccer at the high school level is preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Must be able to work in a variety of environments. Must be able to withstand varying levels of temperature and noise levels. The employee must lift or move 25lbs and may be required to stand for prolonged periods of time.
