Job Description

SUMMARY: To support the vision, philosophy, and methodologies of the high school basketball program and varsity head coach. This includes instruction to athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training. To support the program leader with technology requirements, film, travel and other off-court duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Direct the planning and preparations of the activities of the boys' basketball program for the LAHS program
• Using HUDL, ensure the film and recording is complete for all home and away contests.
• Assist the Athletic Director and Athletic Trainer in the distribution and collection of appropriate information ( i.e. physical forms, and all other forms that are required by the NMAA, District 2-4A and the high school).
• Work with the LAPS program leader for travel and budgeting for the boys basketball program.
• Recommend the purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms as needed.
• Establish and maintain good rapport with athletes, staff, parents, community groups, and news media.
• Submit requests for transportation forms to the Athletic Director.
• Assist the Athletic Director in planning and organizing promotion, participant recruitment, and recognition programs pertaining to the sport.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Successful experience as either a head or assistant coach, or successful experience as a player or coach at the college level.

• Concussion in Sports
• Cheer and Dance Safety Certification (Cheer Coaches only)
• NMPED 501 Initial Support Provider Coach

EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE:

• Previous experience in coaching basketball at the high school level is preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Must be able to work in a variety of environments. Must be able to withstand varying levels of temperature and noise levels. The employee must lift or move 25lbs and may be required to stand for prolonged periods of time.
