TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
The pay for this position is a minimum of $1. Additional pay is dependent on funds raised by Community Athletics & Activities, payable June 30, 2025.

Coaches Salary Schedule

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Demonstrated ability to effectively carry out the duties of the position and comply with the policies/procedures set forth by the Principal, Athletic Director, and the Moses Lake School District.
  2. Exhibited knowledge of the sport, demonstrated technical skills, and successful experience teaching these skills to secondary school student-athletes.
  3. Valid First Aid and CPR/AED Certification or ability to obtain prior to start of season.
  4. Ability to meet WIAA age requirements applicable to the position.
  5. Exhibit the organizational skills and abilities to ensure a well-managed program.
  6. High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Work within the basic framework and philosophy of the head coach.
  2. Demonstrate knowledge of modern trends, techniques, strategies, playing rules and procedures.
  3. Assist the head coach in carrying out his/her responsibilities.
  4. Organize, supervise, and evaluate practice sessions.
  5. Implement a safety plan that includes teaching of the proper techniques and fundamentals.
  6. Adhere to all safety rules.
  7. Have an emergency medical plan in place.
  8. Inform parents of individual players regarding attendance, discipline, and injury.
  9. Relate to staff members in a professional and effective manner.
  10. Demonstrate appropriate sportsmanship with athletes, peers, and the public (particularly at sporting events).
  11. Motivate players.
  12. Keep players informed of available camps, weight programs, etc.
  13. Teach and discipline in a consistent and equitable manner.
  14. Aware and adhere to WIAA, league, district, and building rules and policies.
  15. Implement team rules in accordance with the policies and regulations listed above.
  16. Direct student managers and statisticians on respective teams.
  17. Assist the head coach in scheduling and providing transportation to sport events.
  18. Adhere to scheduled facility times.
  19. Instruct team members as to changes in the rules and teach fundamentals of the sport as outlined by the head coach.
  20. Attend all staff meetings and carry out scouting assignments as outlined by the head coach.
  21. Secure all doors, lights, windows and locks before leaving building if custodians are not on duty.
  22. Instill in each player a respect for equipment and school property, its care and proper use.
  23. Arrive early enough before practice, contests, and meetings to adequately prepare, and remain long enough afterwards to help players with problems or to become involved in staff discussions.
  24. Help in the planning and implementation of both in-season and out-of-season conditioning and weight programs.
  25. Never criticize, admonish, or argue with head coach or any staff member within hearing or sight of players or parents.
  26. Strive to improve skills by attending clinics and using resources made available by the head coach.
  27. Examine locker rooms before and after practices and games, checking on general cleanliness of the facility.
  28. Responsible for cleanliness and maintenance of specific sports equipment.
  29. Complete mandatory SafeSchools training annually.
  30. WIAA standards require all coaches to complete sport specific WIAA coaching standard courses by the third week of the season.
